HOW SELF CONTAINMENT WORKS
Ensure your vehicle meets the latest New Zealand self-containment requirements. Whether you're an avid camper or a new owner, getting certified is key to enjoying New Zealand’s freedom camping spots.
The inspection is usually done in person at our Auckland location and takes about 30 minutes. If travel to this location is challenging for you, please let us know and we may still be able to help.
How It Works:

Pre-Inspection: Use our checklist to ensure your vehicle is ready.

Book: Select a convenient time using our live booking calendar.

Inspection & Advice: We conduct the inspection at our Auckland location (30 mins). If you can’t visit us, contact us for travel arrangements. We’ll also offer assistance if upgrades are required.

Certification: Receive your self-containment warrant via courier (2-5 days).
SELF CONTAINMENT REQUIREMENTS
At minimum self containment requires:​

Tank for drinking water. (12 litres for each person)

Non-toxic fresh water supply hose that is opaque or coloured.

Sink.

Grey water tank with a vent (12 litres per person)

3 metre evacuation hose (If the grey water tank is fixed in place).

Rubbish bin with a lid.

Toilet (permanently fixed) that can be used inside the vehicle at all times, including when the bed is fully assembled. Minimum of 3 litres of capacity per person
